After eight years on the market, Lexus has announced a series of updates to its Japanese-market RC lineup, including the sporty RC F. The automaker says the changes improve drivability and safety features.
The 2023 RC and RC F use bolts with washers to secure the wheels, with the RC getting new Enkei rims and the Performance RC F getting new BBS lightweight forged rims. This allows the RC F to improve handling performance by reducing unsprung weight and improving electronic suspension and steering systems.
The new car has the same 10.3-inch central control screen as the current IS. Among them, the interior of the performance version RC F is embellished with blue details. It also has an electronic handbrake instead of a pedal parking brake.
Lexus also upgrades the Safety System+ with new cameras and radars that can detect cyclists during the day, pedestrians at night, oncoming vehicles turning right at intersections, lane keep assist, road signs Auxiliary, and a full-speed radar control system.
In terms of power, The Lexus RC F performance version continues to be powered by a 5.0L V8 naturally aspirated engine, which can output 473PS/527Nm. In addition, the transmission is an improved 8-speed automatic.
In Japan, the RC will go on sale on January 9, 2023. The RC300 starts at 5,814,000 yen or USD 50,000; the RC300h starts at 6,262,000 yen or USD 55,000; the RC350 starts at 6,629,000 yen or USD 62,000; and the performance version of RC F starts at 10,580,000 yen or USD 100,000.
