Kia has revealed a preview image of its upcoming EV9 model in the past year. The new car will be the largest SUV model under the brand, positioned as a medium and large SUV (the length, width, and height are 4930mm×2055mm×1790mm, and may provide three rows of seats and a seven-seater layout.) and built on the E-GMP pure electric platform. It is expected to be unveiled before the end of January 2023 and will be supplied to North America, Europe, and parts of Asia.
A few days ago, some automotive media reported on the configuration and price of the Kia EV9. The report indicated that the new car might offer a five-speed transmission with a base price of $56,000 to $73,000. However, this information has yet to be officially confirmed and is purely for your reference.
The Kia EV9's entry-level model has a cruising range of 220 miles (about 354 kilometers); the second-lowest model's cruising range is increased to 290 miles (about 466 kilometers). The mid-range model has a total output of 400 horsepower and 515 Nm and a cruising range of 260 miles (418 kilometers). Finally, the flagship version, priced at US$73,000, has a powerful peak torque of 653 Nm.
Judging from the preview image, Kia's upcoming EV9 will retain the overall style of its previous concept car. However, the design of the headlight area on both sides is extremely avant-garde; it uses a matrix light source and broken-line daytime running lights to show off a futuristic feel.
The car's overall profile is relatively square, and at the same time, many broken line designs can be seen from the side of the car's body. An electronic camera has also replaced the traditional rearview mirror, and the design of the side door has also returned to the traditional opening method. In addition, the shape of the taillights is also quite special, and the lighting effects are very conceptual.
Kia EV9 is expected to be equipped with a battery pack that can hold 73kWh of electricity. It will be able to drive 482km on a single charge. The vehicle supports a maximum fast charging power of 350kW and can be charged from 10% to 80% within 30 minutes. The maximum output of the vehicle is expected to reach 577 horsepower.
