Wreckfest: 10 Of the Best Cars In the Game

Fans of the Wreckfest racing game have grown to love the Raiden RS, a car that is in many ways the best in the game.

El Matador

Someone once said It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt. Then it's hilarious.' This quote perfectly sums up the best car racing game I've ever played. Wreckfest by Bugbear Entertainment is an absolute blast to play. With brutal crash sequences, insane car damage modeling, and an insane amount of customization, this title brings fun like no other.

When you're playing Wreckfest, there's one thing you always want to be doing: smashing things. And while there are a lot of cars in the game, not all of them are useful for this purpose. Some deliver insane speed, and some can withstand tons of damage, but which ones take the cake when it comes to wrecking?

My name is Mike, and I've played Wreckfest for over 100 hours, so I'm more than ready to tell you which cars are the best in the game. While this article does not list all of the cars in the game, there is still some good information for newbies and experienced drivers alike.

10El Matador

El Matador

The Wrestler

Big, heavy, and not that fast? This car - no, truck - snuck into the conversation by constantly being underestimated. It looks about as heavy as it is, making it a devastating fighter car. That's no surprise, given its name, but what is surprising is just how viable the car can be in a race.

El Matador is a truck with a unique design; you would be hard-pressed to find another car in Wreckfest that looks quite like it. While the rear end may not look perfect, the tail is where its strength lies. The weight of the bed behind it can be used to help it corner and come out of turns much faster than other vehicles in Wreckfest. This, coupled with its softer suspension (it can really cancel out bumps in the road), makes this one of my favorite cars to drive around the Nürburgring. So if you're looking for a good all-around car that won't let you down either on the tarmac or off-road, El Matador is a good choice.

9Rocket RX

Rocket RX

Master Of None

The first car you unlock in Wreckfest is the Rocket RX. It's not the fastest, most powerful, or best-handling car in the game, but it holds its own enough to carry you through almost any event. The Rocket RX is a moderate / mid-tier driver's car designed to be fast, agile, and fun. It's one of the most versatile cars in the game—a jack of all trades.

The Rocket is one of the cars players will learn basic tuning strategies with, and it does a great job of it. The Rocket can be viable no matter how it is set up, and that makes it great for all occasions. However, the RX version takes a while to unlock, but the top speed and handling improvements it brings to the table make the grind worth it.

8Starbeast SS

Starbeast SS

Lawful Neutral

The Starbeast SS is like its un-upgraded sibling, the Starbeast. It doesn't excel in any particular area but has decent attributes across the board. When Bugbear released the car, it actually buffed it because it improved upon none of the standard model's stats, but that buff has elevated the car to a higher standard. It's just taken players time to revisit the car and realize as much.

The Starbeast SS is now one of the most agile vehicles in Wreckfest. Players should use that agility to weave through their opponents, taking advantage of openings and ducking through them before the opponent closes them up. When used correctly, the Starbeast SS can be a slippery adversary.

7RoadSlayer

RoadSlayer

Master Of All

The RoadSlayer is another car that can be used in nearly every category. It's versatile and will make any player competitive before tuning even enters into the equation. There's really no way to go wrong with this selection, and before the current meta, the RoadSlayer was one of Wreckfest's most popular cars.

The RoadSlayer is essentially the best all-rounder car in the game. It doesn't have any glaring weaknesses, so it's difficult to find a reason not to use it. The only reason I would suggest players try other cars is that they need to unlock the RoadSlayer first, which means spending hard-earned credits while their favorite car might be sitting there free of charge.

6Tristar

Tristar

Modestly Dominant

The Tristar is a car that's easy to miss--until it flies past its competitors on a corner. It doesn't have the straightaway speed of some other cars, but it makes up for that with exceptional grip and handling.

The Tristar has a few issues in combat. It doesn't take much for this car to get beat up, and while its components are tough, the car itself is not. The Tristar is a very technical car to try and win with in PvP; it requires to pinpoint timing and careful overtakes to be effective. However, the players that know it well can embarrass anyone on the track.

5Gremlin

Gremlin

Little Bugger

The Gremlin is a tiny vehicle that players might misjudge as being weak. But don't let its size fool you--it has surprising weight for its size. It can hold its own in dirty areas, opening up enough room for it to take advantage of its strongest attribute: turning.

The Gremlin has exceptional handling, making it one of the best cars in Wreckfest for cornering. Even when oversteering, players will find they maintain near-perfect control, giving the Gremlin a huge advantage on turn-heavy tracks and allowing it to cut inside on bigger, clunkier cars. The Gremlin's handling makes it perfect for beginners and also allows veteran players to use it as a dark horse selection for tournaments.

4HammerHead RS

HammerHead RS

Family-Sized Fury

HammerHead is a mean station wagon that is surprisingly fast for its size. It can outrun most cars in a straightaway and will handle turns better than a lot of them too. This is one of the most commonly used cars in Wreckfest PvP because its mix of control and speed can be a nightmare, which makes it no slouch in the strength department either.

The only problem with the car is that its extended rear end makes it an appealing target for opposing players. The RS model is an improvement in almost every category and definitely essential for serious competitive players, but it makes the car lighter. That makes it easier to push around, and given this car's reputation online, pushed around it will get.

3SuperVenom

SuperVenom

A Sporty Blur

The SuperVenom is arguably Wreckfest's fastest car. It's very quick on straightaways, making it a great choice for events where speed is most important. However, it lacks the stability and control needed to excel in other areas.

The slightest mistake in turning this car will result in spinning out. Every time. This is not a selection for beginners, but the player who can reign in this car's turning will be rewarded with a vehicle that can win them any race against any player on any track. It's just that fast.

2Bulldog

Bulldog

Old-School Cool

The Bulldog is no longer the king car in Wreckfest, but it still deserves credit for being best at something that the other cars weren't. With excellent handling, great acceleration, and a surprisingly light body for its overall size, the Bulldog used to out-compete bigger cars and quicker cars by simply being better at something they weren't.

The Bulldog was built to withstand hard collisions and still maintain its top speed, making it tough enough to fight dirty and fast enough to win clean. While the days of its dominance have come and gone, there was a time when the Bulldog sat alone at the top of the Wreckfest pyramid, and it's still a solid choice today.

1Raiden RS

Raiden RS

There Can Only Be One

Wreckfest fans knew the Raiden RS would dominate racing in Wreckfest. Since its release in early 2020 as part of the Rusty Rats Car Pack DLC, the Raiden RS has dominated the game's PvP racing in every category.

The Raiden RS is second only to the SuperVenom in speed and second to none in terms of grip and handling. It has great handling and grip, so even beginners can pick it up and have a good chance of finishing in the top ten online races. Unless it goes head-to-head with a SuperVenom or gets wrecked on turn one by a HammerHead, the Raiden RS is going to win most races it competes in. It is quite simply the best car that Wreckfest has to offer.
