In the past, thinking about electric cars seemed like an unrealistic dream. As technology advances change this reality, we live the future, and car enthusiasts are having the time of their lives. Not only have are electric cars become accessible, they continue to grow and flood the market with new technological advances in their performance, range, and style. Although it seems obvious, some can not stipulate what an all-electric car entails.
An all-electric car uses an electric motor instead of an internal combustion engine for propelling purposes. The vehicle uses a large battery to power the motor, which is charged by plugging in charging equipment or plugging it into a wall. Since an electric car runs on electricity, it does not contain liquid fuel components like a fuel pump and emits no exhaust from a tailpipe.
The ability of automakers to add new technologies and simple touches has their shoppers eagerly waiting for their new releases. Therefore, this article will focus on the top 10 most anticipated all-electric SUVs for 2022.
The iX is BMW’s first electric SUV intended to flagship the i’ family of electrified vehicles. It is to be released to the market by early 2022. The company’s vision for the iX includes an X5-sized body with a dual-motor of 516 horsepower output with a BMW-estimated range of 300 miles with a battery capacity of 111.5 kWh. The company said it would also support DC fast charging of up to 200 kW. The vehicle's tech highlights will include a curved widescreen dashboard display and an automatically shading glass roof. With standard all-wheel drive, the iX will have a price of $84,194. Later an iX M60 model with a sportier feel, extra horsepower, and other upgrades will be released with a more significant entry price.

The Cadillac Lyriq will be the first electric Cadillac car for the company, which will be available in both dual-motor all-wheel-drive and rear-wheel-drive versions. Using the Ultium scalable battery structure from GM’s platform will offer a battery capacity of 100 kWh with DC standard fast charging. It will also cover 76 miles of range in about ten of charging time, with a Cadillac-estimated horsepower of 340. Some of the vehicle’s tech highlights will include a 33-inch diagonal advanced LED display, a fixed-glass roof with power interior shade, and enhanced automatic parking assist. The starting price of the Cadillac Lyriq is to be $59,990.
Being the companies first electric SUV for the US, the Mercedes-Benz EQB will have a seven-seater capacity and sell at a starting price of $50,000. When it goes on sale in 2022, the vehicle will be available in EQB 350 4Matic and EQB 300 4Matic. Both have a 66.5 kWh battery with all-wheel-drive dual motors. It will have 221 horsepower with a 200 and 260 miles driving range.

The Genesis GV60 is one of the three Hyundai Motor Groups electric vehicles flagships. It will comprise 429 horsepower with a powerful all-wheel-drive system, getting to 60mph in 4.0 seconds. Since the Genesis GV60 is a part of the three Hyundai flagships, it shares its powertrain and platform with the other models but is considered the more luxurious version. It is set to go on sale in the US in 2022.
Since Hyundai and Kia are affiliate automakers, the IONIQ 5 rides a new electric platform shared with the new EV6 by Kia. IONIQ 5 will avail its customers a single motor of 225 horsepower rear-wheel-drive model and a dual-motor 320 horsepower all-wheel-drive model. The RWD will have a 300 miles range, while the AWD will be between 244 and 269 miles. The battery capacity of the IONIQ 5 will be 77.4 KWH which a DC fast charger can charge. Other features will include a 12.3-inch dashboard display and a sliding console. Depending on the model, its entry price will range between $40,925 and $55,725.
The EV6 SUV uses the new Kia platform shared with the Ioniq 5 and looks sporty. The EV6 will offer its customers a choice between the RWD and AWD, with the horsepower ranging between 167 and 576. The two versions will be offering a choice between a 58.0 kWh battery pack or the 77.4 kWh with ratings ranging between 232 and 310 miles. Some of the vehicle's tech highlights include a dual 12.3-inch dashboard display and a charging system for other gear. Its entry pricing is between $44,875 and $41,000, depending on the version.
In its fleet of seven electric bZ model versions, Toyota’s electric future will be based on its promised range of new electric vehicles. The bZX4 will offer a front-wheel drive with a range of up to 250 miles using the e-TNGA platform created in unison with Subaru. The-TNGA platform will give allowance for dual-motor AWD or single-motor front-wheel-drive model. Its market starting price is to start under $40,000.

Nissan promises a powerful 2023 Ariya SUV, which will go on sale in the fall of 2022 in the U.S. It will offer a driving range of 300 miles with two different battery sizes, the standard of 63.0 kWh and a larger pack of 87.0 kWh. The company also offers a choice between an all-wheel-drive and a dual-front-wheel-drive. Its market price is t $47,127.
In conjunction with Toyota, Subaru will launch its electric vehicle crossover sometime in 2022. The Solterra, like the Toyota bZ4X, will be based on the-TNGA platform. It will comprise an all-wheel-drive system using two motors with a combined output of 215 horsepower. The company estimates the EPA range to exceed 220 miles though the range has not been verified yet.
Even though Rivian is a startup, it intends to venture into the electric SUV market with its RS1. The RS1 will launch in 2022, competing with the likes of the Tesla Model X. The estimated range is 316 miles with the same battery pack options as the R1T. The starting price of the Rivian R1S will be $72,500.
The features and power of electric vehicles can only get better. Mainstream manufacturers and startups are training to get in this space by offering the best to dominate where they can. Especially when it comes to SUVs and their high demand, it is safe to say we are yet to see the best of them.
